Tawuran Pelajar is the name given to the street fighting of hostile pupils in Indonesia. What began decades ago as a mutual provocation has become a brutal contest. The youngsters struggle for the status of their school: Who has the strongest fighters? Who the bravest students? Every year dozens of teenagers die in clashes and become “martyrs” for their classmates.
