>> REPORTAGEN | RANGGELN AM HUNDSTEIN

Hundstein, Salzburg, Austria, 2015

Every year on St. Jacobs Day the natural arena at the top of Hundstein, in Salzburg’s Pinzgau, sets the scene for the traditional Hundstoa- or Jakobi Ranggeln.

This tradition goes back to the 14th century. This year, 92 applicants showed  their skills in tough fights at 2117 m altitude. The spectacle  was witnessed by approx. 2,000 people. In 2010, the “Hundstoaranggeln” was included in the UNESCO list of intangible national cultural heritage.
